Welcome to My Journey…
Growing up, I was incredibly fortunate to have a family who prioritized health and had the resources to provide me with a beautiful foundation for living well. I was an active kid, constantly exploring new activities— gymnastics, soccer, tennis, swimming, parkour—you name it. I also ate absolutely everything in sight, from carrots to Oreos to pasta and meatballs with tomato sauce.
But as a teenager, I struggled to manage the stress of high school, the rollercoaster of emotions, and the intense experiences that accompanied puberty. I lost sight of my health, stopped exercising, and ate… to put it bluntly… like shit. To make matters worse, I tried to compensate by following health “trends” that only harmed me more. Most notably, I went “milk-free” for several years.
Some of my worst meals ever? Kombucha and jicama sticks (that was the entire meal), a single Nature Valley bar as my typical school lunch, or bags on bags of chips. I almost always skipped breakfast or started the day with a sugary coffee. Thankfully, my mom—my saving grace—always made a nutritious, home-cooked dinner. But for most of the day, I was underfed and nutrient-deprived, leaving me fatigued and low energy as my body stayed stuck in a survival state.
Now don’t get me wrong—kombucha has its benefits, and jicama is a tasty snack. But these things alone weren’t going to help me thrive.
In 2016, my mom introduced me to yoga, and I fell in love. By 2019, I earned my Yoga Teacher Certification. I was also getting ready to enter college, and at this point I was eating better and more, but I still wasn’t thriving. I continued experimenting with health fads— vegan sausage for breakfast, oat milk in my lattes, Annie’s mac and cheese with spinach and bacon (a college classic). My yoga practice slowed down, and I dabbled in weight training and treadmill sprints at the gym.
Then, in August of 2021, I was introduced to the “animal-based” way of eating— meat, organs, fruit, honey, and raw dairy. Over the next 6 months, as I shifted my eating, I experienced fat loss, body recomposition, and an improved flow of energy.
In February of 2022, I experienced a major relationship fallout— one that, despite shattering my self-esteem and sense of self, ultimately changed the trajectory of my life in the best possible way. Instead of rotting in bed and licking my wounds, I committed to cultivating the strongest and best version of myself— I had hit a low enough point to where I wasn’t just ready to live, but to thrive.
I drew great inspiration from my brother, Luke, and joined him in going to the gym, where he helped me build a consistent weight training routine. I continued to feed and nourish my body the way it deserved. In May of 2022, I left my relationship behind, hopped on a plane to Costa Rica, and spent the summer teaching yoga at a surf camp. There, I met incredible people who sought to live fiercely and passionately— just like I did. That toxic, negative energy from my past was replaced with love and abundance, and that summer became one of the most beautiful and transformative times of my life.
Since then, I haven’t looked back.
Why I Do What I Do
Today, I refuse to live a life I need a vacation from.
My love letter to my body, my mind, and my soul, is written in the ways I move, nourish, and care for myself every day. In December 2024, I earned my Primal Health Coaching Certification with the mission of helping others do the same. Life will always have its highs and lows, but I’ve built a foundation that allows me to weather the storms and celebrate the rainbows— because every moment of being here is a blessing. I hope everyone else can see this too.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Through partnership and collaboration, I look forward to helping you step into your best self and experience the same abundance of love, freedom, and health.
Love always,
Alex Grace
